    FALC Display Guidelines:

All work must be totally dry and ready to hang.

Ready to hang means the following:

    Dates and times

    • Respect the delivery and pick up dates and times.  Non-compliance may mean refusal of entry from the current show and the next show. FALC Volunteers are volunteering their time. Please be respectful.

    • Work delivered must be physically labelled on the back with a tag, business card or handwritten label on the frame with the Artist’s name and contact information. This is to help us get your work to you if needed.

    Hanging wire:

    • Use heavy gauge wire.
    • No sawtooth hangers.
    • Screw eyes large enough to support the weight of the piece.
    • Please tape the raw ends of the wire to prevent injury

    • Work on paper must be matted and framed. Large works (over 22 inches x 30 inches) should be framed using plastic, not glass, because of the weight.
    • Work on canvas may be unframed if the edges are painted as an integral part of the work. Some venues, with larger size requirements, like The Mayton, require gallery wrapped canvas at 1.5” or more.

    Appropriateness of subject

    • FALC displays art in various facilities. Town of Cary facilities require work appropriate for a family setting. Not all FALC venues are TOC facilities, but if it is at the Page Walker, Cary Art Center, The Senior Center or other TOC facility, please be aware FALC must follow TOC guidelines. Look at the specific Show Description for these details.

    • All entries will be handled with the best care possible, but FALC, its members, and the hosting facility shall not be responsible for loss or damage of any cause. By entering any FALC exhibition or venue the entering member agrees to abide by these rules.

    FALC requirements

    • FALC requests a 25% (of the selling price) donation on works sold from these venues.
    • FALC has the right to refuse work deemed inappropriate or presenting unmanageable display problems.
    • FALC reserves the right to change these rules at any time.

For this exhibition, members re-create or re-interpret artwork from a master artist. The  member’s piece can attempt to be an exact replica or interpretation of part or the entire selected piece. The judged show will include several prizes, including a Popular Vote. Submission will consist of the master's reference work and brief description, 50 words or less, detailing why you chose this particular work of art to copy in your special way. Visitors very much enjoy reading these descriptions! (SAMPLE: Christina’s World is probably Andrew Wyeth’s most famous work.  His style is very different from my own, so I thought this painting would be both fun and challenging. It was also my mother’s favorite painting, so it has sentimental significance to me.)

Are you sometimes creatively underwhelmed with landscapes that are “all green”, or urban scenes that are “all grey” or any subject that features less than exciting colors? How do you translate your subject into colors that convey a more personal expression? How do you choose, mix and paint colors that you don’t actually see? How do you harmonize these colors and work with the color wheel / color schemes to assure that your painting will hold together in the end? If you have ever asked any or all of these questions, this workshop is for you!

Patti Mollica, author of “Color Theory, an Essential Guide to Color” will be teaching the strategy behind working with color schemes and pushing color choices to the next level. If you are ready to embark upon new level of color exploration, don’t miss this workshop. Take your understanding of color to a new level in this intensive hands-on workshop. Learn how to harness color to make dynamic, harmonious and creative color choices in your artwork. All skill levels are welcome!

Patti Mollica delights in painting the world around her in a bold, confident style, with hues that are vibrant, energetic and contemporary. Her work is known for its fearless use of color and expressive brushwork, while still blending a delicate balance between impressionism, abstraction, and realism.

Patti has been commissioned by, and is included in the private collections of American Express, Sheraton Hotels, CBS & RCA Records, Penguin Press and many others. Additionally, she is a Certified Teacher for Golden Paints and conducts workshops throughout the U.S., covering topics such as “Innovative Acrylic Techniques using Golden Paints”, as well as “How to Paint Fast, Loose and Bold”.

Patti’s original artwork is represented in several galleries throughout the US. Published prints and posters can be found in retail chains worldwide. Patti is the author of 4 books,"How to Paint Fast, Loose, and Bold", “Modern Acrylics “, “Color Theory”, “Acrylics – Getting Started”, as well as 3 instructional painting DVD’s, “Value, Brushwork, and Color Techniques”, published by Northlight Books.

If a month before the workshop we haven’t reached the minimum amount of students for the workshop to happen the workshop will be canceled and students will receive a full refund.

If you cancel less than 30 DAYS prior to the start of a workshop/class you will not receive a refund. If you must cancel in this time frame we encourage you to find a replacement, and your replacement can reimburse you for your course fee (please notify us if you do this). If you cancel before the 30-day limit you will receive a full refund. Unfortunately, students who start a multiple-day workshop and are unable to attend any portion of the class will not receive a refund.

Workshop will be canceled or rescheduled if inclement weather (hurricanes, snow storm, tropical storm, black ice, flooding, etc.) is on the forecast, or if a global health issue (pandemic) prevents groups from gathering. No one should take any unnecessary risks. If the workshop is canceled because of these out of our control circumstances, all registration money will be returned to the students. The workshop will be rescheduled if possible for both parties.

If you have Covid symptoms before coming to a workshop, please stay home and a positive Covid test result will be required in order to receive a full refund.
