Lyudmila Tomova Clark is an award-winning artist, well-recognized nationally and internationally for her unique impressionist style. For the FALC September Program Lyudmila will both demonstrate a plein air painting in oil and discuss her creative process, impressionistic style and how to create a winning painting. Lyudmila will share her resources for plein air events and the numerous ways to participate locally and nationally.
Lyudmila has been painting en plein air since her student days at in the prestigious School of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, her native country. Recently, she's been juried into the very prestigious plein air events such as Easton, MD; Telluride, CO; Plein Air Glacier, MT; Sufolk, VA and many others where she's been highly recognized with many awards.
Currently, she paints figures, portraits, and landscapes in oil or watercolor. She merges abstract and realistic elements together to create mood, movement and an impression of the world around and within us. Her mastery of painting the human figure is especially recognized.
Lyudmila immigrated to the US from Sofia, Bulgaria in 1990, lived in New York City working as a full-time painter, editorial illustrator and designer, exhibiting nationally and abroad. There she earned a BFA degree in Illustration from FIT.
Lyudmila has been featured in the International Artist magazine with a 6-page article, Walter magazine, Splash books and many others. Her work has been selected for the PleinAir Salon, ArtFields, RFAS, WFWS, NWS and many more. A Signature member of the Watercolor Societies of NC (silver signature member), Georgia, Southern and the Southwestern Watercolor Society, she resides in Cary teaching watercolor, oil, acrylic and drawing workshops across North Carolina. Lyudmila exhibits nationally and abroad.
