Artist's Statement
I work mainly in soft pastel, charcoal and watercolor. My favorite subject matter is landscape, seascape, snowscape and some still life. My process is a cycle of of four steps: inspiration, preparation, execution and evaluation.
Artist's Bio
I took a few elective art classes while in college. However, my art training began in earnest, in 1988, when I started evening classes at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art.

During the next five years, I studied soft pastel with Jill Rupinski and Edith Neff. I also studied still life and landscape with Jan Baltzell and Patrick Connors. I studied figure drawing with Margaretta Gilboy.

I took as many evening classes and Saturday workshops as my schedule allowed. In 1994, I moved to Pittsburgh for a new job and took evening classes at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

Another part of my art education has been by traveling to different parts of the world. I agree with those who say that travel is one of the most important parts of any education. I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel, with a camera and sketchbook, almost all the way around the world (from Australia to Kuwait and from Alaska to Costa Rica).

Photographs, sketches and memories from such trips (and now, vacation trips) provide most of the inspiration for my work. I work mainly in soft pastel and some watercolor.

I have exhibited my work in the student show at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and the Page-Walker Arts & History Museum, the Cary Senior Center, and the Cary Arts Center
