Artist's Statement
My artwork is an expression of the joy that I feel and the peace that I find in the simple beauty of life. Whether hammocks or lemons, hillsides or courtyards, I am drawn to scenes that are touched by sunlight because they remind me to linger and appreciate God’s creation. Through my oil paintings, I try to capture the fleeting magic that occurs when ordinary scenes are transformed by the sun.
Artist's Bio
North Carolina artist Sonia Kane is a painter of sunlit moments. Although educated as an aerospace engineer with a career in the Space Shuttle program (yes, a rocket scientist!), Sonia has been developing her artistic skills through art classes and workshops since she was a child. Her award-winning oil paintings now hang in numerous corporate and private collections throughout the United States and she frequently exhibits her work in solo and group shows in the region. Sonia and her family live in Raleigh and have made it their home since 1988.
