Artist's Statement
My paintings and mixed media art I create for enjoyment and relaxation. Creating art is a release of emotions. Art is expression and can reflect one’s environment and circumstances. Art is my life’s song, a tune for me to sing. God gave me the gift of creativity, and I choose to use it when I can, to let his light shine. As a teaching artist my hope is to help others build self-esteem, freedom of self expression the ability to create art. As long as I can remember I have wanted to make art. I went to college and majored in art education. What I learned most was resourcefulness. I know the elements of design and color theory. But to use that knowledge in a way that invokes memories and emotions came with much practice and exploration. I share my art and I teach art, to help others enjoy the expression of bold colors and patterns. I love to teach the young and the elders. The youngest have the freeness of expression without being held back. The elders enjoy life’s experiences and are encouraged to recreate their wisdom and realize their value as they enough creating art. I make art for the love of art. So whether you are hanging my art on your wall or stepping out in a fashionable piece of wearable art know that my heart was in creating it. SJ Hall a.k.a. Sheila Judge Hall
