Takenaga

Nancy Takenaga is a North Carolina–based artist and designer with over 40 years of experience in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and gouache. Influenced by her Graphic Design studies at Emory University and academic background in sociology, psychology, and philosophy, her work reflects a thoughtful approach to composition and place. Drawing from a personal photography archive developed over 30 years of travel, she creates coastal-inspired paintings rooted in observation and memory. She recently launched an art and design business focused on original fine art and surface pattern design for licensing, and offers a limited number of commissioned works.

North In this second chapter of my life, I have reconnected with my creative voice, allowing it to evolve with renewed clarity and purpose. My work is rooted in the belief that inspiration exists all around us—within the rhythm of nature, the structure and color of landscapes, and the quiet moments of everyday life. Influenced by my time along both the California coast and the Southeastern coastal states, I am drawn to soft light, layered textures, and organic forms—from marsh grasses and still waters to open, coastal terrain.
