My mother gave me my first book on collage by Gerald Brommer, a classic. I began by cutting papers and before I knew it, I was hooked. I was fortunate to take an actual weeklong workshop by him not long ago, before he died last year. He was a wonderful art teacher; very encouraging. Since then I have taken numerous workshops, but primarily been taught by Sharon DiGuilio in her studios. In my "other life" I am a clinical social worker working full time in Cary helping people with anxiety, depression and other life difficulties.

I love collage. I love collecting paper, manipulating paper, decorating paper, gluing paper. I use my collage in mixed media pieces. I don't use magazine papers glued onto surfaces. The majority of my papers are altered in some fashion because that's the creative process for me. It's a wonderful thing.
