About My Art
I come from a family of cartoonists and was not interested in cartooning but was very interested in art. Fortunately I lived in Buffalo, NY and the Albright Knox Art Museum served as my introduction to the world of fine art as well as being my first teacher in the process of becoming an artist.
I took my first art class in drawing at the University of Buffalo and when I moved to New york city in 1983 I began taking classes in drawing and lithography at the Art Students League as well as life drawing classes at various sites around the city.
I joined the Brooklyn Waterfront Art Coalition in the late 1980's and participated as member until I moved to Florida in 2011. I joined the Sweetwater Printmaking Cooperative in Gainesville in 2014 and continue my membership and art shows to this day. I took etching classes in Santa Fe College in Gainesville.
I left Florida in 2024 after the death of my wife Mary, also an artist, and have been splitting time between Florida and Cary.
Other than being an artist I taught school, became a librarian at Multnomah (Portland) in 1977. I left Portland to attend Michigan State University where I received a degree in Labor and Industrial Relations.
Having both a librarian's degree and labor relations degrees I took a job as librarian in The Cornell School of Labor Relations in New York City. After leaving Cornell in 1986. I worked with the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Union and the Musicians Union in various positions. My wife and I retired to Florida in 2011.
