Artist's Bio
Mary Ciaccio Artist Bio Mary Marm Ciaccio is an oil painter based in North Carolina. She explores ways to tell her artist story by interpretation of her natural world through hyper realistic interpretations or more abstract figurative expressions. Marm’s passion for art began by observing her oldest brother, Rob, a college art major at the time. His guidance taught her plein air painting, pricing paintings, framing a finished piece and marketing. Being selected to attend University of Illinois’ Art Program at Monticello’s Allerton Park, pushed her in even further. This art experience, along with a nudge from her CCD teacher Sister Mary Walters, pushed her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Art Education and later a Master’s in Education. Her education led her to the role of curriculum coordinator at the Stratton Academy of the Arts and later the owner of a gallery, Marm Studio Gallery. Marm felt the need to form a support group for artists to come together, share ideas and grow together as creatives. So the ‘Art Talk’ concept was started in Illinois and grew to a second group in North Carolina. These two enriching groups became known as the Artists of Marm. The artists meet regularly to support each other, learn marketing skills, get involved in local shows and hold studio paints. She has shown her work in various shows highlighted by a Best of Show award in an Illinois regional art show. She has also participated in shows at the Hardy Gallery in Ephraim, WI; and currently has a number of paintings on display at the SunSinger Restaurant & Wine Bar in Champaign, IL. Not only a painter, Mary illustrated a children’s book entitled, “Henry the Third: As told by Norah the Second” by Liz Doughty. It was released in December 2022. Her second illustrated children’s book will be released in 2026, entitled Bruce the Dog. Currently, Marm continues to create paintings in her studio, with a focus on narrative portraits. She feels the responsibility to paint a story of emotion into her paintings. Art Forth!
