Lori

HOHENSTEIN

Lori Hohenstein is a self-taught artist and photographer whose work explores the space between representation and abstraction. Inspired by nature, travel, light, and color, she creates paintings that capture peaceful and happy moments. Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media, Lori uses expressive color, texture, and movement to transform familiar landscapes, seascapes, and botanical subjects into something uniquely her own. Her photography background influences her strong sense of composition and light, while her intuitive approach to painting allows each piece to evolve organically.

I paint to capture the feeling of a beautiful moment—peace, happiness, and presence. Inspired by nature, travel, light, and color, I work intuitively as a self-taught artist, allowing each painting to evolve rather than depicting a scene exactly. I’m drawn to the space between realism and abstraction, where movement and texture express something beyond the image itself. I hope my work offers viewers a moment to pause, breathe, and reconnect with a place or feeling that brings them joy.
