I am a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. After studying psychology in University in 2011 and preparing to go to dental school, I had a change of heart. I decided instead to travel the world. During my third year living in Shanghai, China, I rediscovered my childhood passion of drawing. Shortly afterwards, I decided to start a comic strip. I released a new strip every week for two years. At the end of these two years, I realized what I loved most was illustrating and not so much joke-writing. I then began to dedicate my time to drawing, digital art, and oil painting. In 2020, I studied at the Academy of Classical Design under Jeffrey Mims. I now teach art and spend most of my time illustrating and oil painting

My joy is working with oils, often painting wet-into-wet from direct observation. To guide the viewer’s eye, I prioritize color, composition and brushwork - elements that continually inspire and excite me. Each piece is meant to reward close attention, offering something subtle or unexpected the longer one looks. Though rooted in real subjects, I aim for each painting to approach the feeling of a memory - something quietly heightened, almost magical, but still grounded in the observable world.
