Jean

Grunewald

Jean started at an early age drawing, painting and winning awards under the tutelage of her classically trained father. She went on to receive a Fine Art Degree taking classes at VCU (RPI) in Richmond, VA. She has moved 19 times and traveled the world which has allowed great diversity in her art careers. She has taught in schools and workshops, editorial cartoonist for the VT paper, renderings for Exxon, neon signs, Trompe L’Oeil murals, commercial painter, floral designer, weaver, quilter, jewelry maker, wine label designer and there is probably more that she has done.

For my next challenge, I have returned to my college paintings for inspiration. I enjoy multi figure compositions, flattening space, lost lines, mid value colors and breaking rules for a bit more abstraction and fun.
