The art I create is always a statement of personality. A means to bring emotions and feelings from the canvas to the viewer. Whether I’m painting a pet portrait or a drawing of old time movie stars, I want the feeling of the subject to rise up out of the image and give the viewer a connection to the canvas. A commissioned piece can be a subject very close to the clients heart so I want that feeling to be real as possible. A painting starts with form, the idea of an object as the center piece of the paper or canvas. Then with the colors is where all emotions come to life. A completed work should have the color and form to find that connection to the viewers’ heart.

I grew up in Oklahoma drawing, reading, and playing music. I spent two years at the University of Oklahoma (OU) Art School before moving to California where I met my wife and lived for 12 years. A move back to Oklahoma led to working with watercolor and a continuing love of the arts. We would later follow our youngest son here to North Carolina and settled in Cary where I had the opportunity to really begin to paint in earnest. Over the past five years I’ve sold hundreds of custom watercolor and ink paintings online; pet portraits, family portraits, outdoor scenes and still life. My work has traveled across the country with a few finding their way across the Atlantic to England. I’ve had my paintings on display with the Town of Cary and Apex as well as other venues.
