Artist Bio Andrea Farrow is a North Carolina artist and founder of Farrow House, a wood-focused fine art practice inspired by the emotional landscape of nature. Primarily self-taught, she began creating art in 2008 and later presented her first solo exhibition in downtown Raleigh. After earning a degree in interior design and architecture and working in hospitality design, Andrea returned to her studio practice with a renewed focus on wood as her primary medium. She creates original basswood carvings, wood-burned reliefs, paintings, linocuts, and hand-rendered maps inspired by the marshes, forests, and waterways of North Carolina. Her work has been exhibited through regional art shows and markets, and she continues to develop her practice from her home studio in Cary, creating pieces that celebrate nature, storytelling, and a sense of place.

Artist Statement My work begins with a sense of wonder. Whether I'm walking through a quiet marsh, studying the grain of a piece of basswood, or remembering a place that has stayed with me, I'm drawn to moments that invite us to slow down and pay attention. Working primarily in wood, I combine carving, wood burning, painting, and printmaking to create pieces that allow the natural grain to become part of the story. Rather than hiding the material, I embrace its imperfections, letting each board help shape the final composition. Nature has long been a place of healing, reflection, and renewal for me, and those themes continue to guide my work. My landscapes, wildlife, and maps are less about documenting a location than capturing the feeling of being there—the quiet, the movement of water, the changing light, and the memories places hold. I hope my work encourages viewers to pause, reconnect with the natural world, and discover beauty in both its strength and its gentleness. If someone walks away feeling a little more attentive, a little more hopeful, or reminded of a place they love, then the piece has done what I hoped it would.
