Norris

My name is Elizabeth Norris Cutler, a soft pastel artist hailing from Eastern North Carolina. Since 1992, I have lived in Washington DC and Tampa, Florida, but now call Raleigh, NC home. My art journey started in 2013 in Tampa, where I started working with acrylics. By 2016, pastels captured my interest and, since then, have been solely focusing on this medium. Currently, I hold memberships in the Degas Pastel Society (Signature Member), the Pastel Society of America (Associate Member), The Southeastern Pastel Society, the Pastel Society of North Carolina, and the Appalachian Pastel Society. I have participated in in both juried and non-juried exhibitions in both Florida and North Carolina.

Inspired by the timeless masterpieces of the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists, my work captures the essence of fleeting moments, infusing them with a sense of movement and luminosity. With each piece, I aim to transport viewers to a a world where colors sing and emotions dance. Through my exploration of painterly techniques, I strive to illuminate the beauty of everyday scenes, whether it's ponies galloping on the Carolina coast or pomegranates on my kitchen table. With delicate precision and bold expression, I seek to evoke a sense of wonder and nostalgia.
