Artist's Bio
Dan Campbell I've been painting professionally since 2013, after 25+ years in marketing/business most notably in the health and sports club industry. In my mid-50's, I came to a crossroads, realizing there was something missing in my life, something that fed my soul when I was younger...creating art! I studied Commercial Art in college but changed my major and got a BS in Education, thinking it more practical. As many people do, I went a different direction entirely only to gravitate back to that which I have loved and enjoyed all along. Art has been and still is my wonderful adventure. Not only for the art itself, but for all the friendships I have made along this journey...people who love art as I do. Art has been that beautiful thing knitting souls together, creating a harmony that stands above the negative vibes frequently felt in the world. This God-given gift, the arts, is something all of humanity can share, can enjoy and revel in. I feel fortunate that I can make a living with my art, and that we now have so many tools available to us to promote our art. I also have the best family a guy could ask for with my wife, Wallace, 3 children and their families which currently have given us 6 grandchildren. Life is grand! Artist's Statement
I love art and always have since I was a 5th grader reading comic books and then learning to draw the heroes I saw there. Vibrant color finds it's way in my paintings, I think, because of that early influence. I had an art-loving aunt who gave me my first paint set in 9th grade and encouraged me to paint, to develop my skill. I discovered that drawing and painting would become my close friend as my single parent mother was always moving and my keeping friends for very long was not in the cards. My art now is varied, a blend of modern impressionism and abstraction. I have been commissioned to paint such a wide breath of subjects that I can now apply my style to just about anything. I adore music and am a musician as well so much of my inspiration for my art comes out of old songs. I'm often a textural painter and I utilize acrylic and corresponding mediums or oil along with cold wax in my artworks. I go with whatever feels right with the context and nature of the painting I'm working on. I love the freedom in creating abstracts too so I'll rotate back in forth between representational work and abstracts which keeps my mind fresh and always exploring new ideas.
