Artist's Bio
Cindy graduated in 1976 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She started working in the trade show exhibit industry, while also designing model home offices for the home development industry. She worked as a designer for 15 years, then spent 10 years as a draftsperson/graphics designer. She went back to school full-time in 1999 to get a degree as a certified veterinary technician. After spending most of her time in the veterinary lab, working with blood work and other specimens, she went back to school in 2004 to earn a degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. She had been working in that field since graduating in 2006. After moving in July of 2010 to the Asheville area, and seeking employment, she found the Appalachian Pastel Society and started drawing in pastel. She retired from Mercy Urgent Care as a Medical Laboratory Technician in March 2019. Her work attempts to add to that moment that one “takes in” when in awe of the beauty of nature. She feels she is only at the beginning of her personal journey as an artist. The journey is long and can be frustrating, but one can only hope for a rewarding end to that journey.
Artist's Statement
My paintings reflect the scenes and people in daily life. I join a long history of adventurers who translate the beauty of their surroundings on paper. It would give me great pleasure to share these moments in time with those who live with my paintings in their lives.
