Artist's Bio
Brian Daniels is an impressionist painter from Eastern NC whose work captures the landscapes, working farms, and quiet rural moments that define the American South. Painting primarily in oil and acrylic, Daniels brings a luminous, light-driven sensibility to subjects that range from rolling farmland, mountain vistas, and sun-filled interiors to the shrimping docks and coastal harbors of the Eastern Seaboard. For Daniels, painting is an act of devotion as much as craft. He sees in the natural world a direct reflection of it’s Creator, and in the act of putting brush to canvas finds himself, in some small way, bearing the image of the Creator - translated through light, color, and atmosphere. His work has earned recognition in national juried exhibitions through two regional arts councils, and his paintings are represented in two galleries. An Associate member of the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society (NOAPS), Daniels paints with a confidence and depth of feeling that reflects both a strong connection to place and a painter’s instinct for the way light transforms an ordinary moment into something worth preserving.
Artist's Statement
My work is rooted in the impressionist tradition, shaped by the belief that design and value structure matter more than any amount of color or detail. Eastern North Carolina gives me an endless subject: low coastal light, working waterfronts, weathered architecture, and a landscape that changes slowly enough to study carefully. I paint both in the studio and outdoors, and the two disciplines inform each other. Plein air work keeps me honest about observation; studio work gives me space to distill what I actually saw. My faith shapes how I look at the world — with gratitude, and with attention to the ordinary things that turn out to be extraordinary when the light is right.
