Amy Burkhardt Fetzer, Raleigh, NC: Amy is currently a student of the Contemporary Realist Movement. She looks to form and light on any subject to give her a springboard to point out the simple beauty in front of us; showing us the simple beauty we often pass over quickly by putting this idea in the center, often enlarged, of her work. In this practice she offers a place for your mind to recharge. Formatively influenced by Printmaker Linda Robinson Sokolowski, After a degree in science, Amy continued her education earning a BFA Studio, ‘92 from Binghamton University, Binghamton, NY. At Binghamton she worked closely with artists Sokolowski, Angelo Ippolito, Ed Wilson, and Don DeMauro.

Currently studying tonal drawing via NC Botanical Gardens, I am under the facinating spell of how plants grow. I have a series underway on plants ‘as placeholders’ ~ oil studies of plants as metaphors for all the saints among us.
