We Are Looking for an Executive Director!
The Fine Arts League of Cary (FALC) is a vibrant, nonprofit arts organization dedicated to nurturing, promoting, and celebrating the visual arts in the Cary region. For over 30 years, we have served as a cornerstone for creativity, education, exhibitions, and community connection. Our motto is Encouraging Artistic Growth, which encompasses individual artists as well as encouraging the artistic growth of the community. As we continue to expand our reach and impact, we are seeking a visionary and dynamic Executive Director to lead FALC into its next chapter of growth.
Our Story
The Fine Arts League of Cary has served the Triangle area since 1996. The group has grown in many directions to fulfill our mission: "enhance the artistic growth of local artists and the community through opportunities of art exhibitions, educational programming, youth art awards and public art social opportunities."
The work of FALC includes monthly programs, repeating annual art exhibitions, annual events for members and special receptions. There are shows that offer prizes and others where scholarships are awarded. Our goal is to encourage the artistic growth of artists from around the Triangle offering exhibition and education opportunities. We strive to encourage appreciation of the visual arts by keeping our public facing events free of charge.
Exhibitions
FALC's Annual Juried Exhibition celebrates its 30th year in 2025. We regularly draw over 600 national, regional and local artist submissions for this prestigious exhibition. Additional major exhibitions include two at The Mayton: Mayton Masters on the first floor exhibiting nationally recognized local artists and the FALC Exhibition on the 2nd and 3rd floors which is a rotating curated exhibit of emerging and professional artists. Pro's Epicurean, Sotheby's, and Wake Med Reflections Gallery are year round rotating exhibiting opportunities for members. The Annual Member Show is an opportunity for all members to exhibit. At the Annual Wake Teen Exhibition FALC awards close to $20,000 to deserving young artists.
Programs.
FALC's monthly programs are open to the public. Attendees learn new art skills, enjoy special guest presentations, take an art field trip or participate in an art related book club.
Art Swarm
In 2025 FALC will launch Art Swarm, a unique, regional 5 day art festival celebrating the creative process.
Art Swarm SWARM will be an annual art making event inviting approx 150 regional plein air and studio artists and the public in art making projects. While many arts festivals focus on selling art to the public, SWARM will instead be designed to highlight and empower the creative process. With arts education in schools becoming more impoverished every day, the general public has less exposure to the acts of making art. SWARM will bring the important work of making art to the public, with the intent of informing, inspiring and delighting. For five days in September, the public will be invited to interact with artists creating work 'en plein air' as well as in the studio. Community engagement projects will be structured to include the public in making art, resulting in works that will be on display in the community. SWARM will culminate in a public exhibition of artists' works, along with two receptions, a VIP preview event and a public awards reception.

Our membership has doubled since 2021 to nearly 500 members currently. We have increased exhibition opportunities, social events and continue to expand our programs to benefit members and the community. We have membership levels for new, emerging, professional artists as well as Art Lovers, Senior artists and Art Instructors. Gaining community recognition and expanding our events, FALC is now at an exciting stage preparing to hire our first Executive Director. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident, entrepreneurial individual who would relish a chance to establish and mold an eager and vibrant organization. Goals that the league has for the next 3 years is to continue to expand FALC's reach regionally, maintain the level of excellence for existing programs, and raise funds in preparation to establish our own space. Building on the community and business involvement, grant and sponsorships work we've created, we believe this to be within our reach.
