About the event

You're invited to the first meeting of FALC's new book club, The Muse! We are partnering with the NCMA and will meet at the Museum quarterly to discuss an art-themed book, take a guided tour of art related to the book, and (optionally) enjoy lunch together at the Museum.
Our first book-club selection is James, by Percival Everett. This 2024 National Book Award winner reimagines the story of the escaped slave Jim (from Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn). We'll tour the exhibition "The Time is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure" with our guide, Michelle Harrell, NCMA Director of Education.
Space is limited, so please add it to your calendar and RSVP if you are sure you can attend.
Future book-club selections and dates:
Friday, September 19: Cat's Eye, by Margaret Atwood
Friday, January 23, 2025: The Color Storm: A novel of Renaissance Venice, by Damian Dibben
