Artist's Statement

I have been creating and painting since early childhood. My passion for making things was supported by my mother who every Christmas filled boxes with art supplies for her girls to practice their self-expression. Photography is the springboard for my paintings and sketches of figures, landscape, and still life’s, painted with gouache, acrylic, watercolor and oil on paper and canvas. I am forever attracted by light and color and I am on a constant journey to simplify; painting only the essence of my subjects.

Artist's Bio

I was raised in Albuquerque and I studied Psychology, Studio Art, and Photography at the University of New Mexico, surrounded by the artwork of Georgia O’Keeffe. I later earned Masters Degrees in both School Psychology and Clinical Social Work. Throughout my life, I have pursued art education through college courses, in-person & online workshops, and voracious reading. Art has always been in the background of my life, even while I was busy raising a family, during multiple moves and careers. I continue to be inspired by the greats, but will always have a fondness for the simplicity and beauty of O’Keeffe’s paintings.
