Paulette B. Wright

Paulette uses bold acrylic paints on large canvases to create her abstract paintings.  She is also a fine art photographer, capturing anything from old barns and city scapes, to electrical substations, abstract objects, and landscapes.

Ms. Wright has been creating art in some form most of her adult life.  She would have liked to have taken art classes in high school, but was unable to do so.

While living in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, she took several oil painting classes in Murrells Inlet and loved it!  But circumstances at the time did not allow her to further pursue that outlet.

What she did accomplish was design artwork using fabric on t-shirts and dresses.  Lamé was her medium of choice.  It was lightweight and produced lovely colors when moved around.  Taking that process further she made wall hangings using heavier fabrics and found objects, and produced several commissioned artworks which are still hanging in several homes in South Carolina.

Working in Autocad extended her creativity.  Ostensibly, she was an electrical designer; but when work was slow, she would create colored line drawings and dimensional pieces.

A surprise move to Texas boosted her art career.  After a frustrating search for something to put on a 22' wall above their fireplace, her husband suggested she buy the biggest canvas she could find and paint something.  And she hasn't stopped since.

She studied acrylic art with Sylvia Morgan, one of the leading artists in Sugar Land, Texas, who gave her many tools to use in her creative endeavors.  In addition to showing her some interesting and crazy techniques, she gave Ms. Wright confidence in her style.  For the first time she entered her work in a local art show and was pleased with the results.

Paulette recently participated in the Sugar Land Area Artists ArtWalk 2010 in downtown Sugar Land, which ran the entire month of July.  In addition, four of her photograph works were part of a month long exhibit at The Vineyard, on Town Square in Sugar Land.
