Teresa
was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, attending school at NC State. Her
interest in photography began as a child, and has continued until
becoming a primary focus in 2004.
She has always worked in the printing industry, while continuing to
photograph the people and places around her. Currently a student at
Duke's Center for Documentary Studies, Teresa can often be found around
town, camera in hand, looking for her inspiration in the ordinary.
Her photos have been displayed in various exhibits and galleries and in
private and public collections, including the Umstead Hotel in Cary,
Buku (restaurant in downtown Raleigh) and CarolinaEast Medical Center
in New Bern.
What photography means to
her:
Photography is powerful.
It can preserve a moment, a glance, an action, a place, even an emotion
exactly as it was. This has fascinated me since I first picked up a
camera as a child, and I continue to enjoy discovering the beauty in
the ordinary through photography. However, the art of photography is
much more than simply capturing an image; it can be one of the most
personal and revealing art forms. Looking at someone's photographs, you
are forced to see the world from their perspective - a glimpse into the
things that have inspired the life of that artist.
I find my inspiration in nature, and in capturing the magic of the
people, places and things in our daily lives.
