Painting is a demanding passion for me … and a good
reason to smoke a cigar, sip a great single malt scotch and listen to
Willie Nelson.

I have a great deal of passion for creating abstract art … and it is a good opportunity to smoke, sip, and listen. Not activities one usually associates with creating art … but they work for me.
Today we are
inundated with data from a variety of sources. A constant flow of
Information and images pour in from the media, the internet, cell
phones, email, text messages, requests to be someone’s friend, to buy
this, ask your doctor that etc. In the midst of this, abstract
art can provide a respite, to get away from all the bits, bytes and
pixels. Like a slow dance, after all the perspiration and
frenzy on the floor, abstract art, due to the absence of discernible
subject matter, or a message or story that needs processing allows us a
similar opportunity to catch our breath and enjoy a change of
pace. Like being able to slow-dance to a favorite tune, our time
with an abstract painting is made even more enjoyable if we are
interested or intrigued by it. Or just like looking at it because we
think it is, quite simply, beautiful.
Creating abstract
paintings that have no meaning or message, support no cause, are not
concerned with split ends or restless leg syndrome is what I do.
I’m influenced by my memories, my moods, errors, sins and thoughts --
or what I had for lunch. … with a little help from a cigar, some
scotch and Willie.
