Dan took up oil painting when he retired from IBM in 1991. You are never too old to learn!  Retirement provided plenty of time for lessons and for practice as well as an opportunity to travel and see so much waiting to be painted!  He studied under Maurice Loriaux, Finn Dahlin and is currently working under the guidance of Luana Luconi Winner.

A camera safari to Africa with his son in 1998 provided subjects for paintings that have yet to be exhausted. Dan captured people and animals on camera and worked from these photos later in his studio.

Portraits are another favorite subject area for Dan. With many children and grandchildren, there is never a shortage of subject matter.

He has won awards at the North Carolina State Fair and at numerous FALC competitions. The work that FALC does in hanging paintings at two of Cary’s assisted living facilities--- Glenaire and Heartfields--- is a rewarding outlet for Dan’s paintings.
