I am mainly a watercolorist, but I enjoy working with other mediums too like clay, batik and fabric painting on shirts. A majority of my paintings are floral abstractions. I also do custom paintings, an example is shown here.

I
was born in India and have degree in art from Benaras Hindu
University where I was awarded the title “Best University Artist” in
1964. I have worked under and attended workshops by a number of
well-known artists in India and the US. I am mainly a watercolorist; I
also enjoy experimentation with a variety of art media including clay,
batik, leather and graphite.
After living in Iowa
for 32 years, in June 2002 my husband and I have moved to Durham, NC,
to be in a warmer place. I was very active in the arts in Iowa and now
I am enjoying being involved in the art scene of the Triangle area.
In
2004 I had solo shows at WakeMed of Raleigh (United Arts of Wake
County) and at Jordan Hall Arts Center of Cary. I also had a solo show
at NC Academy of Trial Lawyers in Raleigh in 2005. A solo show is now
scheduled at Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi, India from Feb. 1 to 7,
2006.
I have also been a member of the Iowa Artists
and Iowa Watercolor Society for many years. Currently I am a member of
the Fine Art League of Cary, Durham Art Guild, Visual Art Exchange,
Raleigh and Watercolor Society of North Carolina.
I
received Richard Heggen award at 2001 Iowa Artists State Show. I was a
featured artist in a show in Charles City, IA (1993) and had one-person
shows at Dutchers in Cedar Falls, IA (1994), at Dutchers in Waverly, IA
(1996) and at the Common’s Gallery of The Columbus Area Art Council at
Columbus, IN (1998). Hearst Center for the Arts, Cedar Falls, IA,
honored me with a one-person farewell show in June 2002.
More
of my work can be seen at www.terway.com/meera/ .
I also do commissioned work like portraits of people’s houses.
