Winnie J. Ferguson

I have always loved gardens and flowers so it is not a surprise that many of my paintings focus on those subjects.  Over the years I have moved to acrylic and oil paint for most of my work.  The fast drying quality of acrylic allows me to move quickly into deep colors and textures I enjoy.  Working in oil provides me with the use of glazes to increase depth in my work.

A retired art educator, Winnie Ferguson, has spent her live involved in the art processes.  She enjoyed a position as a high school art teacher where she spent fifteen years as an educator.  She then pursued a Ph.D. after which she worked as a professor of art education and art therapy in Ohio.  Currently she teaches a few private students in her studio and conducts Open Studio at the Cary Senior Center.

Her work is in the Cary Gallery of Artists in Cary. N.C.  Ferguson has exhibited in Ohio and North Carolina while her work is in collections across the US and Europe.  She is a colorist and the viewer can see her expressions of joy in the bright glowing colors of her work.

After living and working in Ohio for many years, Ferguson and her husband returned to North Carolina her husband's native state and live in Cary.  The beauty of the area is always inspiring to her with vistas from the mountains to the sea.
